Representatives on Chevy Chase Fire Department Board

The Chevy Chase Fire Department holds a monthly Fire Board meeting to discuss everything about the workings of the station. Three neighborhood representatives from surrounding neighborhoods participate on the board. Our friends up the street do an exceptional job and deserve our very best wishes this holiday season. The firefighters take great pride in their station and are willing to risk their lives for the safety of others.

Bet you don’t know this … When a tractor-trailer jack knifes on the Beltway, firefighters are immediately called to the scene. Their primary job is to see to the safety of everyone involved and then to “offload” the diesel fuel from the overturned truck to prevent fire and damage to the environment. After the fuel is offloaded, the firefighters flag down a lucky truck and literally give the fuel away! Why don’t they keep it to use in their own trucks? Because the gas tanks of fire trucks are always full! Another factoid for you from The Hamletonian!
